This year I thought I would try a fun tablescape in the kitchen for Valentine's Day. I will still do a romantic one by the fireplace but I thought this would look nice in the kitchen. The last few years we have been staying home and doing a fondue by the fireplace. I will be working on that tablescape next week.
I got this little dog for my hubby on Valentine's Day a few years ago and I thought he would work perfect with the setting.
The plates say "you are one in a million". I found them at our local grocery store. It's amazing what you can find there.
The last Valentine's Day we went out it was anything but romantic. When we used to go out we would go somewhere with a romantic atmosphere. One of our customers suggested it to my hubby and he made the reservations. The place was called The Fort. Does that sound romantic? Yes it looks like a fort and it was not romantic to me at all. Here are some photos I found on the internet.
This is the room that we were seated in. The chairs were like sitting on rocks. The place was packed but I am sorry this was not my idea of romance. The food was alright but it was a bit pricey. I would rather stay home where it is more comfortable.

Very cute! Love all the Valentine confetti scattered about and your decorated chandy! The Fort looks pretty awful! I'm with you stay home and be comfortable! Valentine's day is THE worst night to go out all year!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Thank you. Yes it was pretty awful. I guess it would be ok to go there for fun since it has history but not for Valentine's Day. I was surprised there was that many people there. I agree that it is the worst night to go out. We have only done it a few times.
DeleteYour table is wonderful and whimsical, and romantic. I love the plate stack and that adorable dog. All your table scatters really set this table as over the top.
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a wonderful day!
DeleteFondue by the fireplace sounds wonderful! I love the kitchen table setting to get you in the mood for the big fondue night. Your soup tureen is gorgeous! It's so fun to find seasonal plates and accessories at the grocery store. Love those heart plates...you did good!
ReplyDeleteBlessings~

Thank you so much for the lovely comment. Have a great day!
DeleteYour grocery store plates are great. Love this table!
ReplyDeleteThank you. They had a few different ones but I liked these the best.
DeleteSuch a pretty and festive table to celebrate Valentine's. I love the heart shaped plates.
ReplyDeleteJanet
I love your pretty romantic Valentine's Day table. The plates from the grocery store were a very lucky find to make this table perfect! Heart plates are very hard to find whether they are pretty like these or not so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI would much rather be at home on Valentine's Day too. I can't imagine a romantic evening at "The Fort" , seems to me you might as well eat at the Alamo.
Thank you and I agree with you about "The Fort". I was surprised how many people were there.
DeleteLove your Valentine's table. Those One In A Million heart dishes are adorable! The confetti and ribbons make this so festive! The Fort looks a bit formidable! I can see why hounding care for it especially for Valentine's Day! I love to go out for Valentine's Day - I figure if I don't have to cook I enjoying more :-) I am lucky that our area isn't so large that there are huge waiting lines to dine.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It is hard when you live in a big area to go out on Valentine's Day. The restaurants are always so noisy. I prefer a quiet evening at home myself.
DeleteBeautiful Valentine's table! The plates are so pretty. Have a great weekend. Maria
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a great weekend yourself.
DeleteYou made such a beautiful Valentines table. My Valentine days this year will be spent at the Great American Outdoor show in PA with my husband. Guns, Hunting and Fishing ..now that's just sheer romance at it's best. NOT!!
ReplyDeleteI feel for you. I am glad that my husband isn't into hunting but he does like to fish. My husband's idea of romance is an action movie in fact that is what he got me for Christmas-2 sets of 8 action movies for a total of 16. Let's just say I don't have those anymore.
DeleteHow adorable!! I think the most my family gets for decoration is paper plates!! ha/ha Hopefully some day I'll be able to do this. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I usually don't decorate for Valentine's Day but I saw those heart plates at the grocery store and couldn't resist. Have a wonderful day!
DeleteThe Fort? That is hilarious! Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? He told me about the reservations just a few days before and I about died when I looked the place up online. I was like "really this is your idea of where to go on Valentine's Day?".
DeleteOh that is so sweet! I love a pretty table set for a celebration! Would you do me the honour of sharing this at my new Five Star Frugal Linkup, please Jody? I'd be thrilled if you'd join me in sharing ways to live elegantly for less. Hope to see you! Mimi xxx

Thank you for the invitation. Linked up tonight.
DeleteYour Valentines Tablescape is set perfectly. All you need is chocolate!
ReplyDeleteI also live in Colorado. I have not been to The Fort however have heard about it.

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!
DeleteYour kitchen table is so cute and fun. You're right, The Fort doesn't look very cozy and romantic. I love staying at home and having quality couple time... alone. Thanks for sharing at the #HomeMattersParty :)

Thank you and The Fort was not the best Valentine's Day that I had. Even my husband didn't like it. Have a great weekend!
DeleteAbsolutely charming, and so welcome this gray snowy day! I'm craving PINK and RED, and this is perfect.
ReplyDeleteHope you're staying well and warm!
rachel
Thank you. We woke up to snow this morning but it is melting on the streets right now. Today is a good day to stay inside and get some organization done.
DeleteI love your table it is so pretty and whimsical. Love the heart plates. Cathy
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's amazing what you can find at the grocery store nowdays.
DeleteWhat a fun table Jody! The heart shaped plates are really cute. We learned long ago that going out to dinner on Valentine's Day would be an expensive disappointment most of the time, so we choose to stay home and cozy up by the fireplace!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the upcoming week.
Thank you. We haven't gone out for a few years now. In fact The Fort was the last time. I myself would rather stay home as it doesn't seem special in a crowded noisy restaurant.
DeleteLove your table, it is the perfect Valentines table, so festive and pretty.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time to visit with you, enjoyed the visit.
Blessings and Early Happy Valentines day,
Nellie
Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

I think the fondue idea is great! We don't have a fondue pot but maybe I should look for one. Going out when everyone will be packed with customers doesn't appeal to me either.
ReplyDeleteWe always enjoyed going to a restaurant called The Melting Pot that is near our house. They have put out a cookbook so I bought one and use the recipes. I bought two stainless steel electric fondue pots and use one for the cheese and the other for cooking the meat. It is a lot of work on my part to get everything made and cut up but it is much less expensive than the restaurant.
DeleteYour table is beautiful and romantic.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Hope to see you on my blog:)
Thank you and have a great day!
DeleteSweet Tablescape! Adorable plates ~ we love collecting plates, but Valentine ones are something we haven't yet...but give us time lol!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. This is the first time that I bought plates for Valentine's. They were so cute I couldn't resist.
DeleteHi Jody, your tablescape is wonderful, I would agree with you, the restaurant is not romantic. I like a more intimate place with smaller tables!! Thanks for stopping by this week on The Oh My Heartsie Girls WW this week, always a pleasure to have you share your posts!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!!
Karren
Thank you. I think that it is much better to stay home on that night. All the restaurants around here are so busy.
DeleteI absolutely love your table! The Valentine's Day decorations are so pretty! Thank you for linking up to the Oh My Heartsie Girls Wordless Wednesday Linky Party!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a fabulous week!

Super cute!! Thanks for sharing at Fridays Unfolded! Pinned :)
ReplyDeleteLove your table! I have fondue on the agenda for this Valentines dinner. We use to do it quite often, but it been 5 or 6 years since we've had it. Hubby and I would much rather eat at home on Valentines than fight the crowds and noise. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Thank you. We fondue at home quite often. We just did it on my birthday last month. I am with you on fighting the crowds and noise on Valentines. It just doesn't seem that romantic unless you are in quiet spot.
DeleteJody,
ReplyDeleteI have never tried fondue! I may look into it for something special for my family!
Thanks for linking up to Oh My Heartsie Girl WW
Jenny
You should try it sometime. We do a cheese fondue in the beginning with vegetables and we cook steak, chicken and shrimp for the meal in another pot. I have a cookbook from The Melting Pot that has tons of different recipes.

ReplyDeleteKathryn, Thank you so much for letting me know about the feature. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
DeleteOh my gosh, Jody, I didn't realize you were from Denver until I saw The Fort!! I live in Lakewood, and haven't been there for a few years when I went on a field trip with our elementary school! The 6th graders thought it was great! LOL :) Your tablescape is beautiful and the fondue by the fireplace sounds like the perfect evening! Thanks so much for sharing at Best of the Nest!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I live in Littleton near the foothills. I actually thought The Fort was interesting but not for Valentine's Day. That was the last time we had been out for Valentines. We have been staying home and doing fondue instead.
