Stage 2 of new patio furniture

I was able to get more done on the side porch this past weekend since my rug arrived on Thursday.  I added a few more touches and got some flowers potted.

I have a difficult time getting a good pictures with the columns in the way.  That is the only thing I don't like about my wrap around porch. Here are some pictures that I took from different angles.

I am still having difficulties with how to decorate the corner shelf.  I added a couple of items but not sure what I want on here.  The metal wall art is new also.  I plan on layering other art on top of it for the seasons.  I have a large red metal star that I will be using for Summer.

Tuscan meets French Country

I love Tuscan and French Country and try to incorporate in every room of my home.  Some rooms are French Country and other Tuscan.  In the dining room I have combined the two.

Here is a full view of my dining room from the formal living room.

Over in the left side is my corner shelf.

I have my wine barrel next to the buffet. I got this chalkboard sign at HomeGoods and I still need to get something written on it.  I was thinking maybe "Seat Yourself".

These next pictures were tricky.  It is impossible to get pictures of the bottom of the buffet as this room is small.  So I got underneath the table to take these.

All I have left to do in this room is get new curtains.  I am changing out the fabric on the cornice board and adding some panels.

Here is the what I have come up with.  I have chosen a panel in a solid color that I will recover the cornice board with and I have two options for the panels.  Please excuse the wrinkles these are fresh out of the packaging.

Both panels coordinate with the solid color but I am leaning towards the one on the left.

I like that the colors go with my rug.  The other one is more neutral so I might use them to make some pillows or maybe a table runner. I might even swap them out during different times of the year.

Another snow day

I woke up this morning to snow.  Yesterday the forecast was for snow starting Thursday night not Wednesday night.  Now I am afraid we will be getting more than a foot of snow.  Right now the snow is falling in big heavy wet flakes.  I hope that I don't lose any trees this time.  I have been shaking the snow off but I have to get to work soon.

The rule of thumb here in Colorado is to wait to plant after Mother's Day.  This is what happens sometimes after Mother's Day.  I bought a bunch of annuals but I haven't planted them yet.  It is suppose to snow through Friday with the weekend being warmer.  The next two days are going to be in the 40's.  I didn't think I would be wearing sweaters and snow boots this time of the year.

Stage 1 of new furniture on patio

I have my new patio furniture on our patio off of the dining room.  We have a wrap around porch from the front door back to the dining room door.  This porch has been difficult for me to arrange the furniture since you come out the door and need to be able to access the yard on the South side of the porch.  I am not sure if this is how I want the chairs to be placed yet.

I will be adding more "stuff" later.  I have an outdoor rug on order and I still need to get some potted flowers put on this side of the porch.

It is hard to get pictures since we have a lot of columns as you can see in the background.

I will be decorating the side tables and the plant rack in the left hand corner of this picture.

I have only placed these items here first to see what direction I plan on going.  I want to get some plants put on here also.

Who doesn't love HomeGoods

HomeGoods has to be one of my favorite stores.  I am so glad that they put one near our business last year.  I can go there everyday on my lunch if I feel like it.  I recently found this natural wreath there.  It is over 2 feet in diameter and I love the wood crate that it came in.

There are so many possibilities with this crate.

I can paint it, stain it or just leave it natural.  I am thinking about darkening it and adding my large metal star that I got the other day at Gordman's for only $9.99.  That is a pretty good price for something that is 30 inches across.  I propped it up just to see how it would look in the below picture.  I may even change the color of the star.

New look for my fireplace mantel

My mantel has a fresh look now that I have taken down the Spring/Easter decor.  This look will stay until Fall.  I have brought back a few old items and added some new ones too.

I added two more candle holders on the left bottom and the box with greenery on the mantel.  I also added some of the white natural balls since I have some placed throughout the room.

I am thinking about changing the drywall columns below the mantel.  I am wanting to add wood and moldings to them and paint them and the mantel a distressed off white that matches my kitchen island.  I will probably be tackling  that this summer.

I have already changed the appearance since we moved in.  The whole fireplace used to be the same color as the walls.  First I added the dark brown to the bottom columns and most recently I added the dark brown to the top.

My newest find for the laundry room

I have been looking for a nice paper towel holder that I can use in my laundry room.  I didn't want to just hang a plastic one on the side of the cabinet by the sink.  I really wanted some kind of shelf that I could maybe hang paper towels below it.  I looked in all the stores in town and just couldn't find what I wanted.  I finally found what I wanted on Decor Steals.

It is actually a towel holder but it is deep enough to put a roll of paper towels on.  When I got this hung the wall I thought this would be a good place for my cow head.  I don't have enough wall space in my kitchen so I thought this would be the next best place for it.

I am not sure if I should put some kind of wreath around her neck or not.  It might be too much greenery for the area.

The laundry room is almost done.  I still need to get some kind of board to put across the washer and dryer so I can have some folding space.

Getting new patio furniture

I ordered some new patio furniture and it arrived yesterday.  I am replacing our old set that we have had for 13 years.  I will be getting it put together this weekend.   Tuesday and Wednesday I had to serve jury duty and I am getting caught up at our shop and with the housework.  For now it is sitting in the foyer and the formal living room.  Here is the picture from Home Depot's website where I ordered it from.

I like the neutral color of the cushions.  It comes with the 4 pillows in the picture.  I will probably use some of my own. This set will be placed on the patio that is right outside the dining room door.
