The best of 2014

Today I thought that I would share my 10 most popular posts for 2014.  I can't believe that this year is almost over already.  Seems like it just begun.  This year was my first full time year blogging.  The year before I was so busy getting my yard in shape that I didn't have much time to decorate.  I plan to do even more decorating in 2015 as I still haven't gotten the basement completely done (at least that is my new years resolution).  On with the countdown.

10TH PLACE-SUMMER FRONT PORCH

9TH PLACE-BORING GARAGE DOORS

8TH PLACE-CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR 2014

7TH PLACE-CHRISTMAS HALL TREE

6TH PLACE-FALL IS IN THE KITCHEN

5TH PLACE-FALL DINING ROOM 2014

4TH PLACE-BACK PORCH BLUES AND GREENS

3RD PLACE-COVERED DECK FINALLY DONE

2ND PLACE-FALL FRONT PORCH

AND FINALLY THE MOST VIEWED POST IS-CHRISTMAS PLAIDS ON THE FRONT PORCH

Looking back I am surprised that I did so much when I don't have a lot of spare time.  This winter I plan to get my basement decorating done, sew some curtains, do some painting and organize my craft room plus more.  Now let's see if it really happens.

Wishing everyone a very  Happy New Year!!

New Years Eve tablescape

This is the first year that I have done a New Year's eve tablescape.  I have always wanted to do one but it is usually just us two or we go over to my sister-in-laws.   This year my sister-in-law and her husband are coming to our home so yesterday I had to go shop for the event.

I really had fun doing this today.  I mixed up the plates using some plastic, paper and ironstone.  The gold chargers and black trays are plastic, the white plates are from my mother's ironstone set and the new year plates are paper.  I changed up the napkins by alternating the sheer with the linen being on top or bottom.

I think that I achieved the look that I was going for today. Now all I need to get is the champagne.

Wishing everyone a save and happy new year!

These are a few of my favorite things

I have always loved that song.  I can't believe that I have never seen the movie "The Sound of Music".   I love old movies and watch TCM all the time.  Why have I never watched this movie?  Could it be that I thought it would be boring?  Or maybe because it is such a long movie?  I don't know why but  I am going to make a point to see it this year for sure.  Yankee Candle came out with candles for this song and I only own five of them.  If you can believe it I have a closet full of their candles but that will be for another post.  This year I thought it would be fun to do my table in the basement with my twist of this song.

The candles that I have are bright copper kettles, warm woolen mittens, whiskers on kittens, cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudel.  I added my kettle, some mittens, brown paper packages tied up with sting, a pair of geese and some bells to represent door bells and sleigh bells.

The bottom of the table I decorated with some of the  things that I like.

Well that is my version of the song and like I said I am definitely going to watch the movie.

UPDATE 12-15

I watched the movie Sunday afternoon and I have to report that I liked it very much.  I wasn't too sure since it was a long musical.  It was a little slow in the beginning but I stuck with it and I am glad that I did.
