First day of Fall

The first day of Fall has finally arrived.  Fall is my favorite season with the changing of the leaves and the cooler weather.  I am ready to get out my long sleeve shirts and boots.  Tomorrow we will be closing on our new home.  We won't be moving until October 3rd so we can get the carpets cleaned and I can move some of our stuff over.  I am hoping to get organized in the kitchen before we move in.

I am ready to enjoy my new backyard this Fall.  I can't wait to use the fire pit.

I am going to have to get some marshmallows to toast.  I am not sure what kind of seating I want to use around this yet.  These are the current homeowner's chairs.

Fall bench

I just couldn't take it anymore.  I had to do some Fall decorating before me move.  Normally I would have started on the inside by now but I will have to wait until we get settled into the new home.  Since I haven't started packing yet I thought that I would at least decorate my bench on the front porch.

I thought I would keep it simple and not decorate around the bench since I will be moving this soon anyway.  We will be having the appraisal done on our current home Monday so that night I can start packing.  I will be lucky to get all my breakables packed and moved over to the new house before we have movers come.  I like to move my own items that are breakable as I have had things broken before.  This will be a chore as I have a lot more breakables since we moved here.

I am ready for Fall (and to move)

Boy I sure am having a hard time not decorating for Fall. I am having Fall decorating withdrawl.  I am going to be packing soon so it doesn't make since to pull all of it out.   I have decided to decorate my small bench on the front porch just for now since I have all the stuff within reach that I plan to use.  I think that I will do it on Saturday morning.  But for now I will share some of my past decorating.

Some pictures of the new home

Today I am sharing some pictures that I took of our new home that we will be moving into the first weekend of October.  All of these pictures show the current homeowners items.  Here is some of the kitchen.  The only pantry is the cabinets by the double oven.  Boy am I going to miss my walk in pantry.  We are going to change out the back splash for smaller tile.  I am not a big fan of large tile for the back splash.  I am also going to be revamping the island.  I am thinking about adding bead board, corbels and painting the whole island white with a brown glaze.

Next is the bar in the basement.  This is another area I would like to revamp. I think that it could use upper cabinets or at least some shelves.  I will probably paint these cabinets and make it more rustic looking.

I am also thinking about redoing the tile around the fireplace in the basement and adding a mantel.

Another fireplace I want to revamp is the one in the family room by the kitchen.  I don't know why it is so high off the floor.  My thoughts are to add wood moldings around it and maybe extending the wood above the mantel also.

That's it for now.  I am really getting excited about doing some projects but not too excited about all the packing and unpacking.

We just had our inspection done on our home and now we need to get by the appraisal.  Once that is done I can start packing items.
