New look on the kitchen island

I finally took my Easter bunny off of the kitchen island.  This morning I decided to bring back my white rooster and add a little touch of Spring.

As I was taking these pictures my hubby walks by and says "Look like everything is back to normal in here".

Bird nest update=I know that I said I was going to leave the bird nest alone on our front porch but I just had to see if mama bird laid any more eggs.  Now there are three.  I will not be bothering her anymore for a few weeks.  I will try to sneak a picture then.

  8. Keep an eye on your bird nest and eggs. I had one in the wreath on my front door. 3 baby birds ...almost ready to fly and a black snake climbed up and got one of them. I'm still traumatized....they say moth balls or sulfar around the area will keep them away.....

    1. Thank you, I will. I have only seen Garter snake around our home and they mainly stay in the garden beds. I am always worried about other birds getting them too.

    1. Thank you. I am having a hard time not looking at the nest. I wish that I could see it without being on the front porch. I think that I might check it sometime this weekend just to make sure the babies are alive. Have a wonderful weekend!

  13. I love your white rooster! Great any time of year. I am so sad. We had a Robin make a nest on top of a wreath I had out on our porch. She had 4 beautiful eggs and I was so excited for the babies to hatch and take flight. Well, something got to her nest and raided the eggs. Poor mama was so upset! I felt so bad for her. She has now gone away and I decided that I will rescue her nest. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

    1. Thanks Jann. I always worry about the finches nest on the porch. I checked on it today but couldn't get any good pictures. I was trying to hurry since mama bird wasn't around. All I could see in the pictures was fuzzy bodies. I hope that they are all right. Last year her second brood didn't survive.
