My front yard garden

Since I put out the flag today for the 4th of July I thought I would get a few shots of the front garden.  I love the way a house looks with the flag hanging by the porch.  I changed out the front plantings two years ago since there was no color in the yard when we moved in.

Since my birdbath doesn't hold water anymore I like to put annuals in it.  The petunias have gotten pretty big in two weeks.

I wish that my clematis was in bloom on the light post right now.  It already bloomed and is getting ready for more.  I love my vine looking trellis that it grows on.

Up by the steps I didn't want to plant anything since it is close to the foundation.  Instead I like to put containers with annuals.   I bought these containers new for this year and planted the same annuals in them to match.

I am hoping that my house has good curb appeal for when we place it on the market.  We are still looking for a new house.  It seems like most of the houses coming on the market are townhomes.    My hubby would like to have one but I am not ready for that yet.  I still want a big yard so I can garden.  I have always loved to garden and mow the yard.  I am not sure where I got that from since neither one of my parents did gardening.  My mom's version of gardening was her plastic geraniums that she kept in two crocks in the living room.

Wishing everyone a happy and safe 4th of July!

    1. Thank you Christine. It has taken me two years to get it to look this way. I am still trying to get the lawn to look better. When we moved in it had a lot of bare spots. For some reason the grass seed doesn't take as well in the front yard as it does in the back yard.

    1. Thank you Pat. I love to use containers full of annuals as they bring a lot of color to your garden when your perennials have stopped blooming. I didn't want to plant flowers near the foundation so I used containers to add color instead. Have a wonderful day and have fun redoing your front yard!

  9. Jody, I think that you have wonderful curb appeal. I hear you about loving to garden and mow the lawn. I do too! Love the smell of cut grass. I, however did get it from my parents. They loved to garden and had a gorgeous yard. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

    1. Thank you Jann. My dad did cut the lawn but he did not garden. When I was in the 8th grade my parents had a house built and all I remember being planted was a couple of trees and some grass. We never had flower beds at any homes that we lived in unless they were already there. I started gardening in my early twenties and have never stopped. I too love the smell of cut grass and I like to sit outside for a little bit after I mow just to smell the air. Have a great day!

    1. Thank you Amy. The house hunting is not going well. It seems like most of the houses coming are the market are townhomes, smaller houses then we need or way out of our price range. We went and looked at a few and it always seems that the pictures look better then real life.

    1. Thank you. Summer is great but it gets windy here and all the weed seeds are flying around right now. We have been getting showers in the afternoon a lot this summer.
