Since I put out the flag today for the 4th of July I thought I would get a few shots of the front garden. I love the way a house looks with the flag hanging by the porch. I changed out the front plantings two years ago since there was no color in the yard when we moved in.
Since my birdbath doesn't hold water anymore I like to put annuals in it. The petunias have gotten pretty big in two weeks.
I wish that my clematis was in bloom on the light post right now. It already bloomed and is getting ready for more. I love my vine looking trellis that it grows on.
Up by the steps I didn't want to plant anything since it is close to the foundation. Instead I like to put containers with annuals. I bought these containers new for this year and planted the same annuals in them to match.
I am hoping that my house has good curb appeal for when we place it on the market. We are still looking for a new house. It seems like most of the houses coming on the market are townhomes. My hubby would like to have one but I am not ready for that yet. I still want a big yard so I can garden. I have always loved to garden and mow the yard. I am not sure where I got that from since neither one of my parents did gardening. My mom's version of gardening was her plastic geraniums that she kept in two crocks in the living room.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe 4th of July!

ReplyDeleteI posted my front flower bed today also. Great minds! :)
Thank you Stacey. I just checked out your garden and I have to say that I wish my flowers were as full as yours. It looks beautiful. Have a wonderful day!
DeleteWonderful garden. I am from England so lovely to see American gardens.
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a wonderful day!
DeleteLove your front yard! You did a beautiful job.
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine. It has taken me two years to get it to look this way. I am still trying to get the lawn to look better. When we moved in it had a lot of bare spots. For some reason the grass seed doesn't take as well in the front yard as it does in the back yard.
DeleteJody,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous front yard garden, dear friend!!!
"Mr. Ed" and I have move to renewing our out~of~doors

I adore you idea of using planters near the door!!!
I'll be watching at my local garden shops for $ales on planters!!!
Thank you for the inspiring Gardening post!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Thank you Pat. I love to use containers full of annuals as they bring a lot of color to your garden when your perennials have stopped blooming. I didn't want to plant flowers near the foundation so I used containers to add color instead. Have a wonderful day and have fun redoing your front yard!
DeleteI too have just posted on my front and back gardens here...http://foreverdecorating.blogspot.com/2015/07/my-house-gardens-part-ii.html and I love it when someone also loves to garden. Your yard looks great and is so pretty. Yes, you do have great curb appeal to sell your house!
ReplyDeleteTerry, I just saw your gardens and they are beautiful. The front of your house is the style that I am looking for. And I also love the way your house looks from the back.
DeleteHow pretty! Love your pretty flowers and how you've landscaped your yard. Good luck as you search for a new place.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,

Deleteso beautiful! Your house has amazing curb appeal and I love the color!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing at Something to Talk About!
Thank you and have a wonderful day!
DeleteJody, I think that you have wonderful curb appeal. I hear you about loving to garden and mow the lawn. I do too! Love the smell of cut grass. I, however did get it from my parents. They loved to garden and had a gorgeous yard. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Thank you Jann. My dad did cut the lawn but he did not garden. When I was in the 8th grade my parents had a house built and all I remember being planted was a couple of trees and some grass. We never had flower beds at any homes that we lived in unless they were already there. I started gardening in my early twenties and have never stopped. I too love the smell of cut grass and I like to sit outside for a little bit after I mow just to smell the air. Have a great day!
DeleteYour home and garden are both so lovely! I'm envious of anyone that can keep plants alive for more than ten minutes ;) Best wishes on your house hunt - I can't wait to see you work your magic on your new home! So glad you stopped by to share with us at Talented Tuesdays! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy. The house hunting is not going well. It seems like most of the houses coming are the market are townhomes, smaller houses then we need or way out of our price range. We went and looked at a few and it always seems that the pictures look better then real life.
DeleteYour garden and home are just beautiful. I always like the look of flowers in a birdbath, very cute! Visiting from Home and Garden Thursday. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and have a great day!
DeleteAbsolutely beautiful I like the contrast between the stone and appears light blue front porch space. I just love this time of year don't you?
ReplyDeleteCarole @ Garden Up Green
Thank you. Summer is great but it gets windy here and all the weed seeds are flying around right now. We have been getting showers in the afternoon a lot this summer.
