Back to the drawing board

We are not going to get the house that we wanted.  It had a lot of problems with the inspection.  The two major problems was the roof (it needed a new roof) and the inspector found lots of mold in the attic. If you can believe it our inspection report was a hundred pages long.  The sellers refused to fix any problems and would not come down on the price so we had to walk away.  Now it is back to square one.  I am glad that we waited to put our house up until after the inspection was all done.

I really wanted this house for the yard.   Oh well I guess it wasn't meant to be.   I just want to find something fast so we can get ours on the market while it is still hot.

  1. I'm so sorry, Judy, that is didn't work out with the house you wanted. This happened to us years ago and as I look back it actually was a blessing. When this happens I just feel like there is something even better for you.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

    1. Thank you Shelia. I am bummed about not getting it. We are going to look at another house today that might work for us. It doesn't have great landscaping but it is more updated.

  2. That must be so disappointing and such a let down. Thankful the home inspection showed those big problems though and you weren't the new owners of a "lemon". I'm sure there is a better house (and yard) out there for you and you'll find it soon.

    1. Thank you Lori. We are going to look at one today that might be "the one". It is on 1.39 acres but it doesn't have the fabulous yard as the other one.

  3. Remember everything happens for a reason..just means there is something out there that will be better. I'm sorry it's frustrating.

    1. We have looked at a few more houses but they are just not the right one. Not many new houses are coming on the market.

  4. I'm sorry for your disappointment. I can't imagine the seller refusing to help you. When we sold our house last summer, mold was found in the basement. Then the chimney inspection showed there had been a fire in it - we had never used the woodstove - and they both had to be replaced. I cried when the inspector told me. But we paid for the repairs and the buyer shared the cost of a new stove with us. Be confident you will find something better.

    1. Thank you. I hope that we can find one soon. Right now there are not too many good ones available.

  5. I missed this post. Too bad the deal fell through but you certainly didnt need to buy a home with those kinds of problems and expenses that would come with it. Hopefully a good one will show up and you'll be readynto grab it quickly!

    1. So far it turns out that this house was the best fit for us even with the problems. About a week after we walked away the hubby said "If I had only known what was for sale at the time I would have gone ahead and taken that house". I just want to get a new home that we can be settled in by the Fall for the holidays.
