I decided to do a woodland theme in my sitting room. I started in here first since I am hosting Thanksgiving and this room is separate from the kitchen/family room. I didn't get the whole fireplace done. I still want to decorate the hearth area some more.
I decorated one corner of the coffee table. I would sure like to something else in its place. I would like to have an ottoman instead. That will something for me to make at the beginning of the year.
I thought that the desk would look like decorated a bit.
I also had a small tree that just happen to fit perfectly in the corner.
It's not too easy to see all the ornaments in this picture so I took some close ups.
At one point I looked out the window and saw this in my maple tree.
At first I thought it was an owl but upon a closer look it was a hawk. I ran to get my camera and was able to take a couple of shots before he flew off. I love this one of him looking at me. He is such a beautiful bird.
Now that I am totally exhausted since I had to go up and down the basement stairs a million times I think that I will relax with a glass of wine and look through my Christmas magazines in my sitting room.

Beautiful hawk! You are way ahead of me. I haven't even begun to think about Christmas decorations.
ReplyDeleteI work 6 days a week so if I don't start planning now I will never have it done in time. I just wish I had more time to decorate. The Christmas season goes by so fast. Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful week!
DeleteLooks wonderful so far! Terrific woodland theme with the birds, berries and greenery. I know how frustrating it is when something like hooking up a water softener gets in the way of decorating! You did great to have gotten so much done on top of that!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I didn't the get the fireplace area all done. I am hoping to get it done within the next few days. I have a lot of cleaning and straightening up before Thanksgiving. Have a great day!!
DeleteLooks so beautiful Jody! The pictures of the hawk were amazing. You got some beautiful shots. I'm sure its frustrating to have your decorating interrupted but, relax and enjoy that glass of wine!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I actually had two glasses of wine last night!
DeleteYour decorations are coming along beautifully. I am still thinking of what to do, and I usually just gradually start putting things out or creating something new. Beautiful picture of the hawk.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by. We have quite a bit of wildlife around our house since we live near the foothills. Have a great day!
DeleteI love it!!! I can't wait to start decorating for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThank you, have a great week!
DeleteBeautifully decorated mantel! I love the lanterns and the cardinals...Christine
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!
DeleteI love the woodland look! After all the drama with the water softener, I would have probably been to exhausted to decorate ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, I had to force myself to do the decorating. I can't believe I just said that. What I really wanted to do was veg out on the couch that day.
ReplyDeleteNice decorations!
ReplyDeleteI have a funny hawk story. This was during a very cold spell - lots of snow. We had a hawk who would lay on the ground and play injured - he thought the little birds at the feeder were his smorgasbord or something. Well. I had put out a couple piece of uncooked bacon for the little birds - they need the fat as I'm sure you know. Well the hawk was puzzled but interested. The hawk decided he liked salty breakfast meat and started making off with it. Watching the hawk fly off with bacon in his talons was an odd sight but less upsetting that seeing him make off with a poor sparrow.
That is funny that the hawk took the bacon instead of the little birdies. I too hate to see the small birds harmed. I put out shelled peanuts for the blue jays and squirrels plus bird seed in the feeder for the small birds. We also have a fox that hangs around our neighborhood.
DeleteLooks like you have a great start on your holiday decorating. What a beautiful mantel! The hawk is beautiful, but he is not welcome here...a hawk killed one of my chickens last year, so I get nervous when I see one lurking in the treetops! Thank you for sharing at What We Accomplished Wednesdays. Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteBlessings ~Deborah
