Valentines Day Past
The way things have been going on here I don't think I will have the time to get any Valentine decorating done. I am still trying to get all the Christmas decor put back in the storage room. I took everything down to the basement and left it there. On Sunday I got about 90% of it put back in the storage room. It took me a few hours to do it since I did some reorganizing on the shelves. I need to get it finished this coming weekend.
Here are a few pictures from our previous home.
I loved to put a table and chairs by the fireplace from our previous home.
Last Friday night we had our bedroom furniture taken away. I decided to just put it up for free and say it is yours just haul it away. I put it on our neighborhood site and I was surprised that I had three people interested. I wasn't sure if anyone would want it since it is dark wood, oversized and more of a Tuscan style. We had the furniture for 15 years so I think that we got our money out of it. It was still in pretty good shape since we moved 6 times with it.
Right now I feel like we just moved in and our furniture is still in storage. There are lamps on the floor and only the beds in the room. We have the adjustable beds so there are two twin beds pushed together. We are still waiting to get our bid on the new carpet but I think I will go ahead and get the new furniture ordered. I woke up in the middle of Friday night and didn't know where I was at since I didn't see the furniture. Funny how sometimes you can't wait to get rid of your furniture and then when it's gone you miss it.
Saturday morning we had our new refrigerator delivered. I am so excited about it. I never thought I would be this excited about a refrigerator. I love the window panel on the door. You can just open that area and reach for what you want and not have to open the door all the way. It also lights up if you knock on it twice. I think that it blends in well with the other appliances. It definitely changed the look of the kitchen.

New carpet, refrigerator and bedroom furniture
Saturday we went carpet shopping. We found some carpet at Lowe's and we also looked at refrigerators. We inherited ours with the house and it has a leaky problem in the freezer area. The ice maker is in the bottom freezer and for some reason the water leaks a little bit on the bottom. I don't like having the ice maker in the bottom and would rather have the water/ice feature on the upper door.
Here is the refrigerator we picked out. It is suppose to be delivered on Saturday.
Here is what our current refrigerator looks like. It's ok but as I said earlier it leaks on the bottom and I miss having water and ice on the door.
On Tuesday someone is coming to take measurements for the carpet. We only need carpet for the four bedrooms upstairs. Our mail level is tile and wood. The carpet in the basement is still good so we don't have to replace it. Once we find out when the carpet is going to be installed I can order my new bedroom furniture. This is the set I have chosen.
I already have the new bedding. Right now it is sitting in my formal living room since I wanted to wait to use it when I get the new furniture. I have been waiting a long time for new furniture. We have had our current furniture for 15 years now.
Here is what our current furniture looks like
It sure is hard to find a charity that will pick up large furniture. Right now I am trying to get rid of it for free on our neighborhood website. If that doesn't work I might be able to get one charity to come and pick it up.

Birthday Haul
So my birthday was on Wednesday the 23rd. I had too much to do at work and a lot of errands to run on my lunch so I didn't get to do any shopping. I did get to shop on Thursday and Friday on my lunch. I am sharing a video of my finds. I am going to be vlogging as well as posting on my blog.
Please come and support my channel and remember that I am just getting started with this. I promise to make much better videos later on.

My Dad's and My Birthday
Today would have been my Dad's 96th birthday also. I miss sharing my birthday with him. The last birthday we shared was my 30th. My mother always told me that I was his best birthday present. My parents waited a long time to get me. The lady at the adoption agency told them that she just knew that I would be the girl that they waited so long for. They were excited when they got the phone call the night I was born and just happened to be my Dad's birthday. 12 days later they took me home.
I came across this photo that was taken of my Dad holding me. I know it is not the best quality of picture but it was 1966 when this was taken
I would like to share this again and wish my Dad a Happy Birthday!

Organizing the Kitchen, a new project and a great deal
Yesterday I spent most of the day cleaning and doing some organizing of
my kitchen. Let's just say that ever since I have been putting away the
Christmas decor the kitchen has suffered. Sure I kept the sink and
stove top clean but the kitchen table and island served as a catch all.
I also did some new decorating on the counter tops.
Now most of the time I sugar coat my pictures when it comes to the kitchen. I always remove most of the appliances and of course the famous bag of plastic grocery bags hanging on one of the cabinet knobs. I decided to leave most of my everyday items except of course the bag of bags.
Normally I would take off the basket of my husbands protein powders and the coffee flavors and sugar dispenser.
And of course the blender and can opener here.
I changed out the display in this corner. I used to have a rooster plate and some vinegar/vegetable bottles.
The red rooster was on the opposite corner display. I decided that he looked better over here with the red lamp.
The opposite corner I added my farm fresh pig. I would normally leave out the can opener and pen container for pictures but I decided no sugar coating today.
I also changed out the decor on my tray that is on the kitchen table.
On the wall by my rolling shelf unit I added some touches to my hanging wire basket.
I added some kitchen towels and a little bit of greenery.
My new project for the kitchen is to redo the upper niches and to paint the chairs and table. Here is how the niches look now. I am thinking about removing some of the items, possibly added a few new items and rearranging the other items.
Now for the chairs and table I am thinking about painting them like I did the kitchen island. I have had this table set for 15 years. I believe it is time for a change. They are very sturdy but I am not loving the color any more. I did redo the upholstery on the seats a few years back.
I now would like to share with you the great deal that I got the other day at Pier I. I had to use my $20 reward coupon but they didn't have much Spring decor yet. I went looking back at the clearance items and found these Fall flowers stems that were 90% off. They were originally $12.99 and I got them for $1.28 each. I ended up getting twelve of them. I know they look small in the pictures but they are actually about 45 inches in length.
Well that's it for this time. I am not sure what I will be doing today. I still need to put all the Christmas decor away in the storage room. Right now it is all sitting in the basement family room. For some reason I just can't get the energy to get it all put away. It must be that my storage room is a crawl space that I can stand up in but have to go up steps to enter. Please excuse the mess as I will be organizing it when I put the Christmas bins back.
The shelves to the left of the stairs is where I keep all the loose decor for Christmas and Fall.
Getting the storage room organized and purged is another one of my Winter projects. After looking at this I think I will probably rest today.

Getting things back to normal
I always wait until after New Years Day to take down all my Christmas. I sure wish that I would have done it earlier. It took me two weekends just to get everything down to the basement and there it sits. Slowly I have been getting the rooms back in order. Let's just say that every room has just a little bit of normal but not all the way.
I have decided to add some lighter colors in the family room. We have dark furniture and with the room on the North side of the house it doesn't get much natural light. I started by replacing some pillows on the loveseat. Here is the before picture.
I kept the two dark brown pillow and replaced the other three with lighter colors. For now I just kinda of threw the pillows on there. I will do some more tweaking when I get the rest of the decor done.
I did get the fireplace mantel back to normal. With this decor I can easily add some Spring to it.
This past weekend I decided to get my craft room cleaned out. I had been using it as a catch all room ever since we started renovating the master closet. It was also a good room to store all my normal decor when I started the Christmas decorating. I was going to take some pictures of the room before I removed some things but I was just too embarrassed. I am still a little embarrassed to show it now but I decided to. Before I started you could only walk in about three feet. At least the floor is clear.
One thing that we did was get a new light installed. It is nice to have a hubby who is an electrician. There used to be a ceiling fan in this room. I forgot to get a before picture but the guest bedroom has the same fan so I am going to show you that. It is a little hard to see the true color of the blades. They are a cherry wood color. Let's just say that it didn't look good in this room. You really don't need a ceiling fan in here either as this room is on the North side of the house and stays cool in the Summer if you keep the blinds closed.
Please excuse the exposure of this picture but you can at least see the details of the light.
In the first picture of my craft room you can't help but notice the natural wood dresser. This was my parents and it has a beautiful carved flowers and vines on it.
Unfortunately it has seen better days. The top has a large crack going across the whole thing and one of the sides also has a crack along the bottom panel. I plan to fill in the cracks and paint it. I will be be painting it white and glazing it so it looks antiqued. Once that is done it will go with the rest of the furniture that I use in this room. This is one of my many projects that I hope to get done this winter.
