Fall fireplace

I worked long and hard getting the right look for my fireplace mantel this year.  Not only do I have to use a step ladder to decorate it since it is elevated from the family room floor but I had the leaf garlands not want to stay in place also.  But it was worth it.

Here is what it looks like at night.  I have battery operated candles and led lights.

I really like how this turned out.  It took me two weekends to figure it out.

I wasn't sure where to put my crackle pumpkin that I made but it fit great with my stacked boxes.

I wasn't going to decorated the table next to the fireplace but what the heck.

Now onto the entry way.  I will try and get it done this weekend but it might not be until the next one.

  1. Hi Jody, O.k. I've got to admit I'm in love with all your decorations and placement. I haven't pulled all my things out yet-but you are making me want to. I also had trouble last year getting my silk leaves to stay on my mantel. I also see that I could use some varying heights on the hearth. I just want to copy you-you've got such a great eye.
    Hugs, Noreen

    1. Thank you Noreen. I am glad that I can be of some inspiration for you. I myself have to do some looking at others decor to get me inspired sometimes.

  2. Definitely worth it! It's so beautiful and just the inspiration I needed to decorate my mantel. By the way, thank you so much for the tip of keeping the stems from your real pumpkins and using them to replace the stems on your faux pumpkins. Genius!

  3. Beautifully done! Would it be possible to get some close up? I'm interested in what all you layered to get the final look. I am learning that layering is the key...I can use all the help I can get!! Thanks

    1. Thank you Jill. I have added some close ups of the mantel. I started with two matching garlands that I started in the middle wrapped around the candle holder. I then add one more garland that goes in the middle of the mantel to add more color. I added white flowers, white berry sprays and some pine cones along with some pumpkins. You can use Fall picks instead of garlands. I do that sometimes myself. If you want a really full look do garlands and picks. Flowers always add bulk if you don't have enough greenery. I hope this helps.

  4. Looks great Jody! You always do such a terrific job of layering on your mantel and I really like how you've done this one. Your crackle pumpkin is perfectly displayed in that case! I'm sure you are loving being able to get your fall decor out and about this year and we love seeing it!

    1. Thank you Lori. I was having Fall withdrawl last year since we moved in the first week of October. I am still working on a few areas and I hope to be done by this weekend. I probably won't get the front porch done all the way since I like to use some real pumpkins along with the fake.

  13. Your fireplace looks absolutely stunning. The pumpkins, garland and flowers definitely fit the fall season, and I love that you opted for battery operated candles. I think the crackle pumpkin on the stack of boxes is a nice touch, and you did a great job with the small table. Your post has inspired me to start decorating my own fireplace.
