Master bathroom mini reveal

Here is the only room in my house that I had been embarrassed to show.  Our master bathroom looks like it is from the 80's when actually our house was built in 2001.  Don't you just love the teal counter tops?

I am not a fan of white tile on the floor.  Yes the grout lines should be white.  The two pictures above are from the original listing when we bought the house.

We don't have a door on the bathroom from the master bedroom it is just an open archway and if you believe it they had saloon doors in the opening.  I didn't even think about taking pictures of it.  The minute we moved in I had my hubby remove them.  I was able to find a picture from the original listing showing the master bedroom from the bathroom and if you look at the bottom right hand corner you can see the louvered door.  And yes the mirror and drapes are gone also.

Now back to the bathroom. Here is the shower area before the demo.

This little nook is across from the tub.  It has a cable hookup so I guess you could watch tv in the tub.  We are going to take out the medicine cabinet and add shelves.

The floor is done.  Now on to the next project.
I wanted to replace the vanity cabinets but we would have to special order the drawer sections so we decided to raise the height and paint instead.  We took down the huge mirror.  We were able to save it so it will go in the basement work out room. Now what to do with the wall.  It didn't get damaged much but we decided to add tile instead of patching and re-texturing.

Now here is the shower/tub area before the shower enclosure is installed.

We have just a few more things to do before this is all done.  I still need my hubby to install the shelves above the cabinet across from the tub and I think I will go ahead and paint the panels around the tub dark brown.  Once everything is all done and decorated I will get it posted.

  3. The vanity makeover looks fabulous. I like the new dark color and the way you accented the cabinet. The new tiling is beautiful. I know it's a big job since we had one bathroom redone so I appreciate what goes into it. The shelves will be great in that nook. Great job!

  7. You've definitely got rid of any traces of the 80's and for that matter, 2001 as well - you've brought it right to 2014 and it looks great! Love the colours of the tile and vanity and the mirrors and light fixtures look terrific! I'm sure you are dreaming of the day when you can have a relaxing soak in the tub while viewing how well all your hard work turned out!

    1. Thank you! I actually took a bath the other night. I just couldn't wait anymore. It felt so good after not having the tub for almost three months. I agree that soaking in the tub will be better when everything is all done.
