Top 3 for October

Today I thought I would share my top 3 post for the month of October.  My dining room was the number one post this month.  I love my Tuscan mural as a backdrop for Fall decor.  It also works well for Spring but not that great for Christmas.

The second most popular post was my outdoor decor.  I love the way my wheel barrow turned out and so did the pesky squirrels.  They made holes in all my pumpkins and spread the seeds all over the place.

The third most popular post was my fall front porch.  Even though I posted this toward the end of September it still is being viewed and is my most all time popular post.

This weekend the weather is going to be in the 70's but we will be getting more winter type weather on Monday with the high being 48 degrees.  I will be working on the dining room and kitchen tables getting them ready for Thanksgiving and planning my Christmas decor.  I have to wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate since we have everyone over to our house so I will be busy that weekend.

O Christmas Tree

Yes I am already thinking of how I am going to decorate my tree this year.  For the past 5 years I have decorated the tree with bronze and gold with lots of sparkles.  I am thinking that I might do a woodland tree or an elegant tree this year.  When I was growing up my mother always alternated the tree every year.  She would do the tree in all red lights, bows and ornaments one year and the next year it would be multiple colored lights and ornaments.  We don't have much room in this house so our tree is skinny.  Here is how my tree has been looking these past years.

I wish my tree would look more like these pictures that I found on Pinterest.

It's not easy to make a skinny tree look full.  I think that I will have to go to Hobby Lobby and see what ornaments they have to help me decide.

Fun with plaid

Today I thought I would have some fun and pull out my Fall plaid blankets. I only have three right now but plan on adding some more.  They look great on my hall tree.  I added a scarf, hat and some boots to the hall tree also.  Everything you need to take a walk among the leaves in the glorious Fall weather.  Of course today it is pretty warm but starting tomorrow we will be having 60 something degree weather for the week.  Next weekend I will be changing out the dining room and kitchen centerpieces for Thanksgiving.  Be sure to check back.

Fall color is almost over

Most of the trees here have lost their leaves while others haven't even begun to change color.  Our mountain ash in the backyard is still green but all the rest of the trees have lost almost all their leaves.

This is the maple in our backyard.  All the leaves have not changed so it looks pretty cool with all the different colors.

The other day I took a drive to look at the colors and found a few good shots.  These are from Sterne Park in Littleton.  I was a little too late for some of the trees. I probably should have gone the week before.

These are from a neighborhood called Cherry Hills Village.  It is one of my favorite neighborhoods as it looks like you are more in the country with  all the tree lined streets and no sidewalks.  I wasn't able to get many good shots since a lot of the trees had already lost their leaves.  These are the only two that looked the best.

My trees in the front of our house look like the bare tree on the right of this picture.   At least we don't have any snow in the forecast for Halloween this year.  I remember taking my son when he was little trick or treating in the snow many times.

My little pumpkin

I call my dog Kolby little pumpkin so I decided to get him a costume for Halloween this year.  Boy it sure is hard to get a good picture of a moving object.  He just wouldn't stay still.  I did manage to get a few good pictures.

I think he is telling me that he has had enough of picture taking.  See how he is looking at me.

Now he is ready for trick or treating.  Look who got a treat.

I need some help

I am trying to decide what I want to do for window treatments in the master bathroom.  I was thinking about putting panels in between the windows but my hubby thinks maybe just a valance.  What do you think?  Below is the bay window area.

This is the pattern that I am thinking of using.

So should I use the panels or just go with the valance?

A day at the antique mall

Sunday afternoon I decided to go to one of the antique malls.  I went to the one closest to my home called the Colorado Antique Gallery.  It felt good to get out of the house for awhile.  For the past month I have been spending my Sundays working on the bathroom so now that it is almost done I thought I would treat myself.  I found a few goodies that I couldn't resist taking home.

There are a few of booths that I always enjoy looking at every time I go there.  Some of my pictures didn't turn out to well since I was using my phone. This booth is all decked out for Halloween.  It gave me some great ideas.

I love the two booths that are all plaid.  I guess you could say plaid is my favorite color.  You can tell that the same person owns both since they have a lot of the same items.

I love this wine cork idea. I think I will have to make one for myself. I have tons of them.

Here are the items that I bought.

I love the colors in the blankets.  I probably won't use them this year for my Fall decorating but they will be used next year along with the hat.

I love plaid and these will be used on my front porch for Christmas.  I saw some wool blankets that will work nicely there too.  The will get them the next time I go.

I spotted this basket within the first couple of booths that I looked at.  I was drawn to it immediately.  It looked very familiar.  That is because I have one just like it but it is smaller.  The one I have has been in my family as long as I can remember.  When I moved out of my parents house my mother let me have it.

As you can see mine is just a little bit shorter.  My mother used it for rags and I so do I.  It fits nicely in the closet in my laundry room.  The new one will work nicely for blankets.  You never know what you will find at antique stores.

Mercury glass Halloween

I usually don't decorate for Halloween but for some reason I felt like it this year.  At least on my dining room buffet.  I always loved Vincent Price movies that were based on Edgar Allan Poe stories when I was little and I still do.  So I thought I would do my favorite The Raven.

Now for another update on the master bathroom.  I got the panels painted around the tub and the window sills.  I really like the way it turned out.  My hubby says it looks too dark.  What do you think?  Should I repaint them white or leave them the way they are?  Here is the before.

Now the after.  I like the after since it matches the vanity now.
