When life gives you lemons....

When life gives you lemons and limes you make limonade. I found this cute beverage holder at Home Goods and thought that it would be perfect on my kitchen island.  The chalkboard frame was a blue color so I painted it to match my kitchen.  This is the first time I tried to do chalkboard writing.  Not too bad if I say so myself.

It is not easy getting a good picture in my kitchen sometimes.  Our kitchen faces northeast so it doesn't get to much natural light coming in.  If I don't use the flash it looks darker and and if I use the flash everything looks brighter than it is.  These were the best pictures that I could get.

I thought that the lemons would coordinate with my honey bee tablescape.

I have some plans for sprucing up the island. Here is what it looks like right now. If all goes well I will post it next week.

  7. What is it about a "lemon" tablescape that always makes me smile? I often use lemons with blues or greens, but I'm loving your black and white!

  10. Hi, Jody! This is my first visit to your site via Susan's Tablescape Thursday. You did an OUTSTANDING job on the chalkboard!!! I would love to be able to freehand like that! The whole kitchen island vignette is very summer-like, and looks terrific in your pretty kitchen.

I face the same challenge that you do with our dining room. That doggone thing is on the north side of the house, and there is so little natural light to come in. I have to open the front door and make sure every single blind is open on the south side of the house just to get in what light I can. They need to make a camera setting specifically called "North Side" for those of us with this problem! :-) Meanwhile, though, your tablescape is just darling as it can be! I love the way you positioned the bee fabric! Your chargers are really rockin', too!!! I don't know if those were originally trivets or if they are true chargers, but whatever the case...they look FABULOUS!!! (I'm all for using different things for chargers! It's all about what looks great in my book!)

Good luck on restyling your island end. That should be lots of fun! Enjoy that and all of your weekend activities!

  21. Oh I love your lemon tablescape. I pulled out some lemon fabric today. I need to make you an apron! I was making little aprons for my kids at school! I love your tablescape! Looking forward to the island redo. I would love an island like that but big black furry dogs with huge tail wouldn't work with that! I'll look for your follow button. I came by from A Stroll I linked my Patriotic Tablescape! I enjoyed visiting. I'll be back! Have a good week
