More Spring in the house

Well I got a little bit more decorating done last which was not easy as I had to clean the house, do laundry and babysit my puppy (who is very clingy).  I am still working on the dining room table.  I think that I will go the Pier 1 Imports today and see what I can find.

I needed some candlesticks for the dining room buffet and just couldn't find what I wanted in the house so I bought these from Hobby Lobby.  I did not like the color but do like the shape.  So I painted them.

Now here they are on the dining room buffet.  I decided to do minimal decorating this year for the buffet.

The soup tureen I got at Goodwill of all places for $7.99.  I believe that it older ironstone.  I can't read the stamp on the bottom.  It is is pretty good condition, just has one little chip on it.

Now here is a close up of how I decorated it.
It is hard to find these at the thrift store with the ladle. I got lucky with this one.  Here is what I got done so far with the dining room table.
I still need a few more items to complete it.  Here is a close up of the plates so far.
I still need to get two more of these.  I only bought four thinking I would use them in the kitchen, but I decided to use them in the dining room instead.

In the kitchen I finished off the island area and added a few more birds to the kitchen table.  I just love these little birds and all the different colors they come in.  I have them in yellow, green, white and blue. Maybe next year I will get some in pink.

Here is a picture of the bunny on the island before I painted it.
And here he is after on the island and my newly updated kitchen table with the new birdies that I purchased.

I traded out my kitchen lamps by the sink for some topiaries.  I think they look great for springtime.  Maybe if I added some ribbon to them.  I think that I will keep them up all year long.  This is one of the lamps that I used to have by my sink.  Of course I took this picture before we completed the renovation.  After the renovation I just didn't like them anymore by the sink.
Here is the kitchen sink area now.
The last area I got done is my console table in the living room.  I just decided to one corner of the table.  I got this lamb and the egg  from Terry's Village.  I think he is adorable.  Can you see what is hidden in the container?

That's it for now.  I am hoping that today I can get my front porch started.  I have to clean it off, do some painting and decorating.  I probably won't get the decorating done as I need to revamp the bench and get new cushions.  Happy Sunday to everyone!

Snow day, dreaming of Spring

What do you do when it is snowing and 29 degrees out?  You look at magazines!  Today it is very cold and snowing, plus it is very slow at the shop ( which is the coin shop that my husband owns).  I sit back in an office surrounded by bullet proof glass ( 6 days a week).  Yes ladies it is a blast to be here.  Since it is so slow today I thought that I would get some inspiration from some magazines that I bought yesterday.

I am wanting to change out all of my patio furniture cushions for the front and back and do some spring decorating.  I am going to change up my color scheme.  Right now everything is red, green and brown.  Here are the magazines that I bought and some of what will inspire me (hopefully this weekend).

Here are some of the pictures that will give me inspiration.  I am thinking of revamping my bench, painting the ceiling and staining the cement floor of the front porch besides changing out the cushions and adding some decor.  Of course this will not be done this weekend but maybe I can get to a good start by cleaning off the front porch and maybe some painting.

Please excuse the glare it is hard to take pictures with fluorescent lights above.  Magazines are great since my view right now out the front  window is bare trees, cars, grey skies and snow.  At least this weekend is suppose to be in the 50's!

A little bit of spring

It was a beautiful today here in Colorado.  Not enough to melt the snow in my backyard but at least it is gone in the front.  I didn't get to do all my spring decorating today as I had many projects to accomplish plus my husband needed help with installing a few cabinets in the garage.  We have lived here over a year and a half and still haven't organized the garage.  If I don't help him it will never get done.

Well here are a few things that I did get done today, the kitchen table, my desk area in the kitchen  and part of the island.  Not quite done with the island but here is all that I got today.  I still am playing around with the cloches.

The bunny on the island was a grey color and I painted it antique white.  I bought him and his partner at Tuesday Morning a few years ago.  I have never really liked the color.
Now here is he with his new color.

I bought this item at Home Goods and thought that with a little tweaking and a wooden accent it would work for my desk area in the kitchen.  It will hold the bills that need to be paid.
Now here it is a finished and on the desk.

I think that I might rethink the blue scissors and some of the sharpies in the holder.  They don't seem to match very well.

Now here is the kitchen table.  I needed some eggs to fit in the egg cups and found some stryofoam eggs at Dollar Tree. You get 6 eggs in the package for $1.  I only needed 4 but decided to by the packages since they are only a $1 a piece and you never know when you will need them.  They came white so I painted them to coordinate with the table setting.   Here is the egg before and after.

Last but not least is the table itself.  I got the blue plates, napkins, napkin holders, black chargers and egg cups at Pier 1 Imports.  The white plates at Goodwill for 99 cents each.  The two birds and tulips from Michael's.  Hopefully here in the next few days I can get the dining room done.  I got the cutest little lamb from Terry's Village and can't wait to get him out.

Roosters and chickens

I seem to have a problem with roosters and chickens, I can't resist them.  I always find myself being drawn to them in the stores.  Of course I really don't need anymore as I am running out of places to put them.  Here are a few that are in my collection.  I have even more that are not displayed.  Why are they so hard to resist?

I went shopping today and found a few at Home Goods, I almost bought them but I somehow I able to resist.  Maybe it was because the line was too long and I needed to move on to the next store.  Oh well, maybe next time.

Here are the ones that I have in my kitchen.  This is in my pot rack.

 These are above the cabinets.

 On the countertop.

This is in my butler pantry.
These are in my dining room.

A few in my laundry room.

On the mantel.
And of course my two favorites.  One in the entry and the other on the dining room table.
