It's bird season in the dining room

Now that I started a bird theme on the dining room table I have continued it onto the buffet.  I brought out the scales again and a bird print.

Just added some pumpkins, berries and leaves for a more simple look.  I love this bird print that I got at Joanne Fabric.

These scales that I have are perfect decorating any season.  More of the bird theme with a nest on one side.

I also decided to change out the decor on top of the wine barrel.  It just needed a little bit of Fall color.

Next area to do is the corner shelf and the chair in the corner.  Come back and see what I did with them.

This table is for the birds

I am sharing my dining room table that I decorated today.  This is the first of my Fall tablescapes.  I will probable do a couple more for the dining room.

I love these feather plates that I got at Pier 1 last year.  I didn't get to use them last year since we were moving so I thought these would be perfect for my first Fall tablescape.  I love the rust and teal colors.  I am showing two place settings as I made two different napkin holders.  The plaid napkins work well with the plates also.

I used two different colored leaf flower holders and added two different beaded holders.

I love this quail couple that I also found at Pier 1.  They go perfectly with the plates.

I love how the candle holders turned out.  I put some antler candle holders on top of some black pillar candle holders.

So I have some difficulty getting good pictures in my dining room.  I have to stand outside the patio door to try and get the whole table in the shot.

I like taking close up pictures in this room better.  Just one more of underneath the stand.

Now I need to get busy on the buffet and the corner cabinet.

It's pumpkin painting time

It's time to get out the pumpkins and paint.  This year I am going to be ahead of the game.   I have had some plastic pumpkins stored away for a while now and I think that it is time to transform them.  Here are the pumpkins that I started with.

I like to paint my pumpkins by hand versus spray painting them.  I choose an off white for these pumpkins. Since two of the pumpkins have short stems I am adding some real ones to them.  I just cut off some of the stem and hot glued the natural stems on.
When I go to pick out real pumpkins I not only like to find interesting ones but they also need to have a nice stem.  At the end of the season I pull off the stems and keep them to add to plastic pumpkins to give them a realistic look.

I didn't want just plain off white pumpkins so I am antiquing these.  Since I might be using these outside I have sprayed them with a protective clear coat.

I also painted a couple more pumpkins but in two different oranges.  They also started out the bright orange color and I added natural stems to these also.

Now for the finished pumpkins.  First up is the white pumpkins.

 And now the orange pumpkins.

They look great all together.  I am not sure how I will use them this year.  I might use some on the front porch.

The before and after side by side.  I had two of each sizes of the orange pumpkins in the back so one of each went white and darker orange.

It's all about Fall

Since the weather is starting to get a little cooler here it is making me dream about Fall.  Fall is my favorite season.   I love all the warm colors and crisp air.  I am ready to pull out the sweaters.

I thought I would share some of my past Fall decor as this is the first Fall for me to decorate my new home.  Last year I only decorated the top of my buffet and a little bit on the front porch.  We moved in the first week of October so I was more focused on getting the house set up.

All of these photos are from our previous home.  These are some of my favorites.

Now that I have seen these again I think that I might just have to start pulling out the bins from the basement storage room and get busy.  I usually wait until September but I think I will start early this year.  I have started painting some of my old plastic pumpkins that I will be using this year.  I will posting those later on.  I am hoping to get those done this weekend also.
