This is the bar area. This is the best view of how I painted the walls. I chose a dark color on the main wall when you come down (as the tv will be on this wall) and on the curved wall by the bar area.
I would like to have some shelves put on the tile wall here. I am thinking about getting shelves that look like rustic wood.
I am wanting to do a woodland theme in the basement. This is my inspiration.
My husband got me this statue for Christmas one year. I love moose. They are my favorite woodland animal. His place will be on the mantel. I have a picture of trees that I am going to hang behind him.
I didn't do anything to the outside of the bar area yet. It is still the original color which is a pinkish beige. I haven't decided if I just want to paint it the light color or do something with wood or stone.
This is a picture of the bar area before we moved in. All of this furniture is from the previous owners. I am going to paint the cabinets a dark brown.
I want to change the tile on the fireplace as it is more a grey color than tan. For now I just did some faux painting on it. Here is the before picture.
Now the after picture. I just used to two colors that I used on the walls. This will do for now until I find just the right material for the fireplace.
Here is some more inspiration for my basement. I drew these pictures when I was in my late teens and early 20's. They are drawn with pastel pencils. I also have a couple of victorian ladies that I drew back then too. I am not sure where I will put those.
I haven't hung this up in over a decade. Now they will have a place in the basement.

What a great looking basement and how roomy! Those drawings are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I can't wait to get this done. I am excited to get to decorate with a woodland theme.
DeleteWOW. That is a nice basement. I would definitely do some reclaimed wood shelving as well as reclaimed wood on the lower bar.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I was kind of thinking more of wood than stone. I might use the stone on the fireplace.
DeleteHow fun it would be to hang out in your basement at that bar! Love the curved wall. Your woodland theme will be great in the space.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lori. We have a few curved walls in this house. This one travels up the stairway so there is one in the family room/kitchen area, the master bedroom and of the course the stairs themselves have in inward curved walls. We still haven't looked for the seating yet. I am hoping to get some this weekend.
DeleteI was surprised to see windows in your basement!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on the room and I imagine your family uses the space a lot.
Thanks for Sharing Your Cup!
We have a garden level basement. It only has four windows but they are all above the ground with no window wells so if the shutters are open it gets plenty of light.
DeleteJody, You have a good start on your woodland theme. Great job on the fireplace. Thanks for sharing. Sylvia D.
ReplyDeleteThank you. The fireplace tile will get replaced after I get done with the upstairs projects.
DeleteWow, it all looks great! Love the paint colors!!! You are a great artist too! I linked our bar at the party too. Come on over and look around:) http://designsbypinky.blogspot.com/2016/02/another-something-new-at-bar.html Pinky
ReplyDeleteThank you. I checked out your bar and I love the stone work. I love the idea of using stone wallpaper. I was thinking about putting stone on the front of our bar but with it being rounded I was not sure if I could do it. I might have to check into the wallpaper idea. That would be easier to apply.
DeleteI love your basement! Our basement tour is of clutter that my husband and I are desperately trying to make functional. Great work on design decisions!
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a great weekend!
DeleteYou did a great job in your basement - thank you for sharing on Pin Worthy Wednesday
ReplyDeleteThank you and thanks again for the party! Hope you are having a great weekend!
Deleteyour basement is wonderful, but oh those pictures! why are you not a full time artist? Those are fantastic and are current right now. love them.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I always wanted to do something with my art when I was younger. I used to draw pictures for people from photos they gave me. I am better at landscapes and animals. I have done some victorian ladies from an old book that has Harrison Fisher artwork in. Things happen in life, you get married, have children and it seems like the time goes by so fast. I might start drawing again when I get my house settled. We moved in last October and with me working 6 days a week I still haven't got the house organized yet.
