Today is my 50th birthday. Oh where has the time gone. Today is a happy occasion and a sad one for me. My father and I shared a birthday. We only got to share 30 together. I so wish that he was here to share my 50th with me. He would have been 93 today.
I was a special birthday present for my father 50 years ago. My two brothers and I are adopted as my mother had three miscarriages and could no longer become pregnant. My parents waited a long time for a baby girl and I was lucky enough to become their daughter. So here is the poem that I found for my father this year.
Happy Birthday Dad!
Happy 50th to you Jody! I hope you have a wonderful day despite the sadness you feel. I suggest some "shopping for pretties" as a way to celebrate! :-) What a blessing to have had such a wonderful relationship with your father and to share the same birthday. How poignant that your father, a veteran died on November 11th.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lori. I am having to work today but I plan on doing some shopping tomorrow. I always said leave it to Dad to die on Veterans Day as he enjoyed his time in the military. He was in the US Army Air and was a nose bomber.
DeleteHappy birthday my friend. Hope you enjoy your special decade, as it a wonderful one, with many new and exciting things to come for you.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you're sad remembering your dad. My dad died the same year as yours and yes, I miss him everyday too.
Enjoy your birthday weekend.
FABBY
Thank you Fabby. I miss celebrating with my Dad very much and wish that I could have had more time with him. I am working today so I plan on doing a little bit of shopping tomorrow.
DeleteDear Jody, A lovely tribute to your dad-we never quite get over losing them do we! My mom died when I was 21 and my dad when I was 39 and I miss him so much! I do believe they look down from heaven and smile when they see their girls lives.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Noreen
Thank you Noreen. My mother passed away in March of 2013 just two months shy of her 91st birthday. I was lucky to have my mother in my life as long as I did as my parents were so much older when I can along. So sorry to hear that you lost your parents at a young age.
