There is nothing better than free stuff

Last night when I was mowing I noticed that next door they were putting out lots of stuff for the garbage.  The house next door is for sale and I thought maybe it was the new owners so I went over and talked to them.  It turned out to be the realtor and she said our old neighbors left all this stuff so she was removing it.  I asked if I could have a few items and she said "yes".  So I also offered to take anything that could be donated as I seem to be donating most of the time.  Of course she said yes and they started to bring stuff over to my house.  I picked through it and pull out a few items.

So I ended up with a floor lamp, table, clock, vase, basket, 4 glass bowls, trivet, wooden box, white bowl, flower arrangement and two berry garlands.  The garlands still have the tags on them.  They are from Hobby Lobby and are priced at $39.99 each.   I am not too thrilled about the flower arrangement but I do like the container.  I thought the trivet looked interesting and of course I will be painting the table.

The best part is the realtor said there was more stuff and she wanted to know if she could bring it over later.  I said just leave it on my porch and I will take care of it.  I told my hubby that I was glad that I went over and asked.  I old saying is true "It doesn't hurt to ask".

  1. Yes, I can go for free stuff as well! lol! You got some good stuff and I know you will use them fabulously. Good for you to take the donated stuff as well. Keeping things out of the land fill is great!

    1. I came home today after work and found a few more goodies on the porch. She said there was more and I told her to just put things on the porch. They even left a DVD player.

  2. I don't see the berry garlands - am I just overlooking them?

    1. The berry garland are piled on top of the basket on the left corner of the picture. She brought them to me rolled up so I left them that way for the picture. Have a great weekend!

  3. It amazes me the things people will leave and/or throw away. Moving can be stressful though. Glad you were able to rescue some really nice things!

    1. I was surprised how much stuff my old neighbors left in the house for the realtor to take care of. I donated quite a bit last week and they also put a few more things on my front porch that I need to donate also. If I had the time I would have gone through everything they put out and separated what was trash and what could be recycled but it was late in the evening when I noticed them.

  4. Free is good! And nice to know it is blessing someone rather than dumped in a landfill. HPS!

    1. So far they brought over 2 outdoor chairs, 2 dining room chairs, a dvd player and a very large bag of Disney movies on VHS. We are keeping the dvd player and I will probable keep some of the movies. I haven't decided on the chairs yet.

    1. They moved to Texas so I guess they didn't need everything. The realtor took some things too. I wish I could have seen what was left in the house.
