The neighbor to the east can see into our kitchen window which we close the blind at night. We back up to a small section of open space that has a walking path so anyone on the path can see in and there are a few houses on the other side of the path that could see in. I am liking the plain finials more and more. People have no idea how much can be seen inside a house at night with just the tinest amount of light showing from the inside --- and often discover the hard way that they have been giving peep shows through their supposed "private" frosted window panes in the bathroom. And yes, what about that midnight raid of the fridge in your undies? Mind you, my undies are more like a 19th century lady's swim suit, but still! The idea of being seen in one's undies - EEK! Or au naturel... hmmmm. Something I think I'd rather not see at all, considering who my neighbors are. I highly recommend to anyone who ever reads this comment that they do a window check around their house at night with the curtains/window coverings (if any) pulled the way you normally would do them. You may be in for some unpleasant surprises and will quickly resort to tacking an opaque material over the window to "blind" the outside world to your inside world, until you can manage something better! I think you did a very nice job on your door curtain and, as an aside, think the "plainer" finials are working better in the space/overall feel of the room than something more ornate. But that's just me.
