Green and White Spring Dining Room Decor

Today I am sharing the rest of my dining room decor for Spring.  The buffet also got some green and white plus a touch of yellow.

I love my two new bunnies that I got at HomeGoods a few weeks ago.  They have that look on their faces like they were caught doing something.

Since I didn't have green and white candles I used my green, white and yellow ones.

Here is the overall look of the dining room.

Green and White Spring Tablescape

I finally got some Spring decorating done this past weekend.  Granted it is only my dining room but it is a start.  I am hoping to get more done this coming weekend.  I did my dining room table with green and white since I wanted to use my cabbage and bunny plates that are green.

I used one of my new bunnies that I got at HomeGoods for the centerpiece with two toparies that I got at Tuesday Morning.

I used my leaf place mats that I made a few years ago with my white charges, then my cabbage plates and topped it off with my green and white bunny plates.

I used my white eyelet napkins with a solid green napkins and pulled it together with cabbage napkin rings.

Next time I will share the dining room buffet.  I am still having a problem on how to decorate the rest of the house inside and out.  I guess I will just have to pull everything out of storage and make my decisions.

DIY Wine Cork Wall

I am happy to say that I have finally got the wine cork project done.  It took me 6 days to do this with working about 4 to 5 hours each day.  I love the way it turned out.

When I first started this project I wasn't sure that I would have the patience to get it done.  There were a few times when I wanted to quit.

I am glad that I stuck with it and got it completed.

Here is how it look with the bar stools.  I still need to do some decorating on the bar area.

Here is the before picture.

Our basement has a curved wall next to the bar which I painted dark brown like the wall on the left side of the picture.  I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with this wall so I didn't paint it.  My first thought was to use stone veneer.  My second thought was to use tile.  I decided against both since it would require some tricky cutting around the corbels and I wasn't sure how they would work on the curved wall.  My next thought was to do some kind of a faux treatment with drywall joint compound.  I scratched that I idea since I wanted something that stood out. That's when I saw my large jar of wine corks.  You can see them in the above picture on the right side of the bar counter top.

My next dilemma was how cut the corks in half.  I wanted a flat surface for the corks and it would give my twice as many to use.  My hubby told me to use the utility knife but it didn't cut it cleanly and it was time consuming.  A bright idea came to me, use the scroll saw.  So I lugged the saw into the house since the garage is too cold to work in.

Here is where I cut the corks in half.  I had to be careful and not cut any fingers off.  I turned the speed down and concentrated on what I was doing.  Once I figured out how to hold the corks it went quickly.

Here is how I started out doing the wall.  I used hot glue to attach them to the wall.  I didn't get that far the first day as I was figuring out how to do the pattern.  Once I got the hang of it the project went much smoother.

Here is the progress at the end of the third day.

Now this looked like a good stopping point if I wanted to. I thought about quitting but I figured that if I came this far I should just finish it.

Here is the progress after 5 days.

I would have had it completed on the fifth day but the previous day I had cut my left thumb twice with the utility knife and I had to quit since it was hurting pretty bad.  I was surprised that I had gotten this far with the injury to my thumb.

Now I can get the rest of the room done since we finally got the furniture delivered a few weeks ago.

Spring Dreaming

We have been having some great Spring like weather here in Colorado recently.  It is getting me motivated to get my Spring/Easter decor out of the basement this weekend.  Of course I still need to finish my wine cork project on the wet bar wall down there this weekend also.  I have been looking at my posts from the past and pinterest to get me some ideas for this year.  I thought I would start with my daydreaming bunny.

This is one of my favorites from last year.

Here a few from pinterest. I have some grapevine bunnies that I could dress up like this one.

Another great idea from pinterest.  I need to get some bunny legs.

This one from pinterest would be easy to duplicate.

One more from pinterest.  This is a great idea how to make a plain glass vase pop with some color.

Now some more from my past posts. I love my large chocolate look a like bunny.  I need to use him this year.

I also love my jumping bunny.  I like to use him every year somewhere in the house.

My Newest Find at Goodwill

I have been having a hard time finding decor with warm colors lately.  It is even hard to find at the thrift stores.  Yesterday I went to one of the Goodwill's in my area and came across these vases.  They go perfectly with my decor in my family room and will be great for Fall also.

They are 14 inches tall and very heavy.  The best part is the price,  $8.99 each.  It would have been great if they were half off that day but no such luck.  They are still a great price for their size.

Today when I was going into the study I saw this.  Can you see it?

My little Toby dog is all curled up in my throw.  He is the exact color of the throw.  Now that is some camouflage.
