Oh a camping we will go

I was trying to find something different this year to put on my table by the tree.  I came across this cute camper and truck at Target and thought it would fit perfectly and it did.

All I did was add some trees and snow to complete the picture.  I wouldn't mind having a small sign that says "trees for sale".  Maybe if I have time I can make one.  Here is how it looks on the table.

Maybe I need a little person next to the truck also.

Close up of the camper.  It even has buffalo check curtains and lights inside of all the windows.

It's a little hard to see the curtains.

Close up of the truck.  I love the wood panel look.

One last look

Christmas in the foyer

I didn't get much done today inside the house.  Since it was a nice warm day today I took advantage and got the outdoor Christmas lights put up.  I was able to get the foyer done later this afternoon.  I love how it turned out.

I love how my new Santa fits right in with my tree. Even the Christmas tree in the room behind ties in.

I am so glad that I went ahead and bought him.  I almost passed him up.

I got this train from Kohl's last year and didn't get to use it until this year.  I think it looks great with Santa and the trees.

Christmas tree is all decorated

Today I got my Christmas tree all decorated.  This is the first time I have had it done before December.  My tree is 9 feet tall and about 5 feet around at the bottom so it took me 4 hours to get it done.  Now I just have the rest of the house to do.

This is how it looked first.  My hubby didn't like the snowman hat on top so I changed out the topper.

Here is how it looks now.

I like the snowman hat better but I decided to let him have his say.  This time only.  Now onto the rest of the house.  I might not get anymore done today since I made about 50 trips up from the basement to bring all my Christmas decor up.  I can hardly wait for tomorrow when my legs will be aching.

Tabescapes of Christmas past

It's that time of the year for me to look back at my previous Christmas tablescapes and figure out what I want to do this year.  I have a few new plates that I will be using as with the old.  Let's see what will be inspiring me this year.

I need to figure out a new area to put my nutcracker collection this year.

The next three are from our previous home.

I can't wait to start decorating right after Thanksgiving.  I plan on getting the Christmas tree out of the basement this weekend and get it set up in the formal living room.  It takes me two days to get it decorated as it it 9 feet tall.

Cornice boards in formal living room

I have four cornice boards in my formal living room that I wanted to recover.  I did get two of them done last weekend.  Since they are 8 foot in length they are quite a challenge.  I decided to do the front corner windows first since that is where I put the Christmas tree.  Here is how they turned out.

Here is the before picture.

They really didn't go with my furnishings in here and my rugs are more red and gold.

I still need to either find some solid color panels or make some.  My windows are very tall so they have to be over 102 inches in length.

Here is a close up of the pattern.  I was wanting to not have to do any sewing so I put the pattern going sideways instead of down.  I kind of like it this way better.

Now I just need to get the other two done on the other side of the room.  I probably won't start that project until after Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving tables

as able to get my dining room table and kitchen table done for Thanksgiving.  In the dining room all I did was add my two metal turkeys and changed out the top plates with my "Thankful" ones.

They go so well with what was here already.

Close up of the metal turkeys.  They open in the back so you can put a votive candle in there.

Here is how the table looks now.

Now onto the kitchen.

I love this white ceramic turkey.  He goes great in my kitchen.

I thought I would use my turkey plates here.  All the dark colors pop off of the cream colored table cloth.

Now I just need to get everything ready for Thanksgiving.

Early Christmas shopping (for me)

It is getting to be that time of year again when I just have to get some new Christmas decor.  I don't know why I have a hard time passing things up.  My main problem is that HomeGoods is just a couple of blocks from our business and I find myself going there just about every day.  Here are a few goodies that I found the other day.

Everything is from HomeGoods except for the reindeer on the right of Santa (he is from Pier 1) and the reindeer on the left is from Kohl's.  They are so adorable.

I love this tall Santa.  I have always wanted a big Santa and he is the perfect height.

This little Santa will be perfect in my kitchen this year.

I couldn't resist this mirror.  It was difficult to get a clear picture since it reflects the side table across from it.

I was thinking about changing the color of the blue skates.  I don't have any blue Christmas decorations but I like that you can put greenery inside.

I can't wait to get started with my decorating.  Since I host Thanksgiving I usually wait until that weekend to start on Christmas so my guests can experience the warmth of my Fall decorating.  I might try and get the formal living room done before then since we don't really use that room.
