Porch Rules Sign

Yesterday I was busy getting the house ready for a family gathering and I thought I would put out my new porch rules sign on the front patio.  I am just keeping the front porch simple until Fall when I will be going all out with the decorations.  This time I didn't even get pillows on the rockers.  I just didn't feel like getting into the storage room of the basement and  search for the right pillows.

I don't know but maybe it looks a little bit empty without them.

I think this sign ties in well with my county theme that I am using here. I tried to get some different angles of the porch.  Nothing like having to stand in the flower bed to take pictures.

Now lets see a close up of this sign.  I love the country look to it.

Is it too early to think about Halloween decorating?

So today as I sit at my desk at the shop (being bored to death as I usually am) I thought I would go to the Pier 1 website.  I couldn't resist looking at the Fall decor.  After I choose a few items I proceeded to look at the Halloween decor.  I came across a few items that had this picture showing a really nice Halloween display.  I then decided I had to have the witches book with the skeleton hands holding it.

I also liked the small stack of books.  So of course they were added to my cart.

I should be able to recreate my version of their display with these two items and my own Halloween decor that I already have.  I know that it is still Summer but I am already dreaming of Fall (my favorite season).  Am I crazy for wanting to get started on this now?

A girl can dream

So at this stage of my life I have come to the conclusion that I will never get my dream home.  Today I was looking at the upcoming Parade of Homes here in Denver and came across this home.  I would take it in a heartbeat.

It is only a 8498 sq ft home on an acre.  Plenty of room for me, the hubby and our dogs.  I love the way the outside looks at night.  This is a fabulous kitchen.  I would have no problem cooking in here all day long.

The master bedroom is nice with the sitting area by the fireplace.  Nice place to relax at night reading a book before bed.

I can see myself taking a nice long bath in this bathroom.  I love the color scheme through out this home.

And did I mention that it is only a mere $2,750,000.  I could move right in.  How about you?  The Parade of Homes starts in August and I am definitely going to see this one.

Accent table makeover

I was wanting to refinish this table for a long time now.  I have outgrown the roses and wanted a more cohesive look.  Since I have a lot of furniture that is two toned I thought it would be perfect for this table.  So here is how it turned out.

I am thinking about getting different knobs.  The ones for the doors had a pull hanging down but I broke both of them when I went to put them back on.

Now as usual lately I have been forgetting to take a before picture.  I was so excited to get it started I just plum forgot.  Luckily I have older pictures from our previous house of the table.

Here is how the area looks by my front door.  I wasn't sure if this table would tie in with my old hall tree.  It seems to blend more with the darker wood color. I had to take this picture from the stairs that are across from this area.   I just wish the ugly light switches weren't in the way.

Here is another shot from a different angle.  This time I am standing in front of the door but off to the side since there is a big column in the way next to the stairs.  Boy I have never had so many things in the way of getting good pictures as I do in this house.  You can see part of the column in the bottom left hand corner.  If I had stood back any further the hall tree would have been blocked by it.

Now that this little area is done I am off on the next project.  I have so many going at once right now I don't know which one will get finished first.

Patriotic Front Porch

I am finally getting a post done on my Patriotic front porch.   Hey better late then never I say.  I have just been so busy working on other projects around the house I never have gotten around to getting the porch done.  I actually got it done this past Saturday but left my camera at the shop and I just didn't feeling like driving over to get it.

I made the Uncle Sam bunny, the firecrackers and the chicken.  I used to cut out wood shapes and paint them for a profit.  I used to do lots of craft shows.  Sometimes I miss doing that.  I am thinking about doing the crafts again but only for me.

Some pictures of the porch from different angles.

Wishing everyone a safe and Happy Fourth of July!!!
