Who ever made up that saying didn't live in Colorado. So far we have over 14 inches in our yard and counting. I guess I won't be doing any yard work this weekend. This is how it looks by our pond.
This is our tree on the North side of the house. Last year when we got a snow like this a lot of branches broke. It's not looking too good right now.
This is our flagstone pathway leading down to the pond. I can't even see where it is.
The pine trees do look pretty with snow on them but they are weighted down a bit.
It is suppose to be in the 50's tomorrow and Monday so hopefully a lot of this will melt. This time we decided not to snowblow our 5000 sq ft driveway since the weather is going to be warmer starting tomorrow.

My new dishes
I finally broke down and bought some new dishes. Not that my old dishes were in really bad shape but some were chipped and had a few cracks. I usually just get dishes in a solid color or with some kind of nice border for my every day dishes. This time I decided to splurge and get a new design that goes with my black and cream kitchen. I don't know, they might be too fancy for me to use everyday.
I got a place setting for 8 since it is only the hubby and I now. I got these online from Bed Bath and Beyond. I like that you can buy them individual in sets of 4. I don't ever need the mugs that usually come with place sets.
I love the sunflower, bee and butterfly designs on the dishes. This is the first time I have had square dishes. I like how the salad plate has a different background color.
The soup/salad bowls are quite large. I like to use these for salad only since they aren't quite deep enough for me to use them for soup.
That is why I got the ice cream bowls. They are smaller around but much deeper. I like how they come with 2 black and 2 white in the set.
I will start using these this weekend. I still need to get them washed. I can't wait to use them.

Spring front porch
Since I was so busy trying to get the yard work done this past weekend I decided to only decorate the bench on my front porch.
Since I didn't have enough time I thought I would use my new bunny statue from Pier 1 and the metal tin that I just purchased on clearance at Hobby Lobby. When I saw the bunny online I thought he was going to be a little bit smaller. I guess I should have checked the dimensions. I was wanting one a little smaller that I could use on my dining room table.
I just love this tin container. It has a handle on the back so I can always hang it on the front door also.

Spring mantel
One more thing that I can check off of my list is the fireplace in my family room. This past Sunday I tackled the mantel and the front porch. Here is how the mantel turned out.
I was going with a green and white theme and then I decided to throw in a little bit of pink with the tulips.
I made the topiaries this weekend also. I got these urns at Hobby Lobby and at first I thought they were ceramic but they are actually metal (which is what I prefer).
I had some greenery balls of different sizes that I used and I hot glued them to a floral stem. I then added some more greenery to cover up the stem since it was pretty thin. I thought they turned out nice but the hubby says it looks like a green snowman.
Last minute touch after I had already taken pictures. I like to use my candle holder on the fireplace hearth to try and fill in the big gap from the actual fireplace and the hearth. It sits on a cardboard box that I like to cover with greenery and flowers. The candles are battery operated so they come on at night for a nice glow as do the candles in the scones above.

April showers?
Nothing like a nice day yesterday here in Colorado with temps in the 50's. It starting snowing last night and this is what I woke up to today. So far we have about 8 to 10 inches in the backyard and it is still snowing. The sky is so white you can't even see the foothills behind my house.
So much for April showers bring May flowers. I hope this doesn't kill all my flowers that are starting to come up.

Simple Spring tablescape
I can't believe that I am so behind in getting my Spring decorating done. It is only two weeks until Easter and I will need to get that going soon. Today I am hoping to finish the fireplace mantel and the front porch. Yesterday it snowed so I stayed inside and got the laundry and the housework done so I can spend today decorating. I might even be able to get out in the yard and do some weeding since the snow is already almost gone.
I thought I would continue the theme from the buffet with bunnies and vegetables. Just a simple centerpiece for the table.
The bunny plates and the napkins holders are new from Pier 1. I paired my carrot napkins with green plaid ones.
Another new item is the bunny tails for the chairs. They also came from Pier 1. (One of my favorite stores).
I have a very hard time getting good pictures in the dining room since it is so small. Next up are a couple of different angles that I tried to get all of the decor in the picture. Please ignore the empty wine bottle on the barrel. I am still decorating that area.
I am still need some new curtains for this room. I have almost given up on finding the right panels. I really need some that are longer then 96 inches since I have a very tall window. I am now looking into finding some table clothes since they come in longer lengths.
